Medieval History Lesson in Przemyśl Museum

Pupils of Class 5b with our History teacher Ms Oleszek went to our Museum. They learned about the Middle Ages in our area. They saw some exhibits connected with our early history.
SHORT HISTORY OF PRZEMYŚL IN MEDIEVAL TIMES Przemyśl is the second-oldest city in southern Poland (after Kraków). appears to date from as early as the 8th century. The town became a site of contention between Poland, Kievan Rus and Hungary beginning in at least the 9th century. The area was mentioned for the first time in 981 by Nestor, when Vladimir I of Kievan Rus took it over on the way into Poland. In 1018 Przemyśl returned to Poland, and in 1031 it was retaken by Rus. Between the 11th and 12th century the city was a capital of the Principality of Peremyshl, one of the principalities that made up the Kievan Rus' state. Sometime before 1218 an Eastern Orthodox eparchy was founded in the city. In 1340 Przemyśl was taken by and became part of the Polish kingdom. Around this time the first Roman Catholic diocese was founded in the city, and Przemyśl was granted city rights based on Magdeburg law, confirmed in 1389 by king Władysław II Jagiełło. (wikipedia)

Comenius Project: How, when and why.

Our project deals with learning different areas through different languages(CLIL) in an integrated way, connecting learning and giving sense to learning. We want to focus our attention on new methods to teach/learn Science through experiments and children's investigation, how to learn/teach History from our country and other European countries through our/its Music, Art, literature, etc. We will make possible a more practical learning thanks to ICT because this will be the main way to interchange information, children's work, videoconferences, etc. The partnership is between Primary schools with the same aim and very similar motivations and difficulties , so we all have not only the desire, but the need to start this cooperation to improve our educative practice. We also want to increase our students’ self- awareness and pride in local natural/historical/ archaeological beauties and cultural traditions , especially because these happen to be the topics our primary schoolchildren can exchange information, emotions and principled points of view. In other words, we want our pupils to express themselves purposefully in different languages on topics they care about, to real communicators (their European young partners) through modern tools (e-mail, Skype, etc), giving their teachers the opportunity to foster all Lisbon competences: problem-solving, initiative, learning to learn, foreign languages, making decisions, etc.
